Trails on and from the Ranch

The image below shows two trails regularly traveled from the ranch: The Kelly Ditch Trail and The Ridge Ride.  The Kelly Ditch Trail is the blue line from the ranch to lake Cuyumaca.  The yellow line represents the path taken for the Ridge Ride.  More ...
The Kelly Ditch Trail is challenging.  You and your horse will climb several thousand feet before descending back to the valley and the lake Cuyumaca area.  Some portions of the trail are very fun just because both you and your horse have to work together to overcome the trails challenges.  Don't panic however, the trail is not too hard.  Still, when the ride is over, you will feel like you have accomplished something.

The Kelly Ditch Trail Ride is six miles long.  It will last most of the day.

The Ridge Ride is a completely different experiece.  Just outside the Ranch is a canyon carved by water leaving the ponds of the ranch.  This canyon is rugged and quite beautiful.  Though you won't descend in to the canyon, you and your horse will traverse it's paremiter.  Expect to see rock faces that offer water-falls during wet times of the year in addition to rock catch ponds along the way.  Cuyumaca wildlife loves the area.  Be sure to bring your binoculars.

The Ridge Ride takes about two hours.
